Aki Takase: Dedicated to Carla Bley | Aki Takase & Miklós Lukács (JP/HU)
Featuring:
Aki Takase - piano
Miklós Lukács - cimbalom
Aki Takase, born in Japan and living in Berlin since 1987, is one of the most important figures in contemporary jazz. A jazz legend with a career spanning more than four decades, the pianist has dedicated her projects to collaborations and performers who share his openness to music. Her rich creative output – as also evidenced by her albums on BMC Records – includes excursions to the frontiers of jazz, classical and contemporary music, dance, literature and electronic music. Many of her projects have focused on great figures in American jazz history, such as Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Eric Dolphy, or Ornette Coleman. This time, she brings a solo programme dedicated to the American jazz pianist Carla Bley, who died last autumn, by playing Bley's compositions, as well as some of her own. In the second half of the concert, she will improvise in duo with Miklós Lukács, whose work is a unique fusion of jazz, contemporary classical music, improvisation, and folk music. Duos make up a significant part of Takase's oeuvre, and the combination of musical backgrounds is a perfect fit for her wide-ranging musical approach.
Table reservations are automatically added during ticket purchase.
Please note that if you purchase an odd number of seats, you might have to share the table with others, especially if the concert is sold out.
