The Bende – Lamm Guitar Quartet's special feature lies not only in its unusual line-up of two guitars and a rhythm section, but also in its modern jazz sound and repertoire. Their pulsating rhythmic drive and the spontaneous melodies of the two solo instruments, sometimes intertwined and sometimes complementing each other, lead the listener into a unique musical world. In addition to their original compositions, their repertoire includes lesser played standards such as Falling Grace, All Or Nothing At All, and Peace.

A former scholarship holder of Berklee College Of Music, Zsolt Bende has toured extensively in the US and Europe since his student days. He has collaborated with such prominent musicians as Lionel Loueke, Lage Lund, Avishai Cohen and Ferenc Németh. He is a lecturer at the Birmingham and Manchester Conservatoires. His most recent album is Cycle of Change, released by Hunnia Records.

Dávid Lamm is an extremely versatile jazz guitarist, songwriter and singer. In addition to two albums – 1st the 1 (...then the other) and Invisible – he has participated in numerous national and international productions. He has played with such outstanding musicians as László Dés, Rhoda Scott, Nikoletta Szőke, Zoltán Csanyi, Béla Lattmann, Alegre Corrêa and Boris Gammer. In May this year he premiered his latest music at Müpa Budapest, with guest appearances by David Friedman and László Dés.

Tony Lakatos and Fabio Miano for this event, they formed a quartet with two stellar local musicians to play their own compositions besides some standards. Their music stays close to the so called straight-ahead jazz with bebop and hard bop elements, a characteristic swing, and Latin feel.

The series A Genius Is Born is a tribute to the male choir works by the three greatest Hungarian masters of music, so it is no coincidence that the concerts are taking place on the composers' birthdays. A special feature of the concert programme is that StEFREM's personal selection of works by the classical composers is complemented by outstanding and interesting pieces by their "heirs", the Hungarian composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Jü, formed in 2012, has become, by now, one of the most exciting jazz acts on the Hungarian music scene. With each successive release, the world of the Budapest-based trio band seems to become exponentially larger and encompass an ever-expanding range of vibrant and startling influences.
