FUR (FR/BE)
In addition to spontaneity, the three French musicians are driven by experimentation with timbres and textures, so their music is almost minimalistic, yet truly buzzing with subtle happenings.

FUR (FR/BE)
Featuring:
Hélène Duret - clarinet, bass clarinet
Benjamin Sauzereau - guitar
Maxime Rouayroux - drums
The trio FUR tends towards the improvisational sketch. Hélène Duret on clarinets, Benjamin Sauzereau on guitars and Maxime Rouayroux on drums travel through wide and wild landscapes, following a dangerous and sinuous path towards a utopian and magical place, but stop at night for social bonding and a shared warm coffee. Between some influences such as Jim Black's Alasnoaxis, Big Thief, Daniel Lanois or Jimmy Giuffre, FUR knows very well what they will tell us, but they do not know how they will say it. We will join them on this discovery of self-expression as it happens.
Their first album, Boîte noire was released in 2021 on the independent Brusselite label, ~suite. During the following months, they released six digital singles on the label of Tricollectif. Each composition was born from a collaboration with author Robin Mercier and three photographers, a testimony to the trio's wide artistic horizon. Their next album will appear in 2024 on BMC Records.

A „ballad” played by jazz musicians and singers is supposed to be slow and is typically about romantic feelings. What the leader of MAO, Kornél Fekete-Kovács adds regarding their choice of ballads for this program is that so much could be grouped here, anything that is rather introvert and fits the mood of the season. The repertoire of the big band contains a lot of traditional, and quite many unusual ballads.
The series A Genius Is Born is a tribute to the male choir works by the three greatest Hungarian masters of music, so it is no coincidence that the concerts are taking place on the composers' birthdays. A special feature of the concert programme is that StEFREM's personal selection of works by the classical composers is complemented by outstanding and interesting pieces by their "heirs", the Hungarian composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
