The band strives to revive the mainstream jazz style of 1950s America, and their work is perhaps most strongly associated with the so-called post-bop style. Although most of the music is related to this era, the septet also performs a range of other songs as well, such as folk song arrangements and ballads reminiscent of film music. Their concerts usually include mid-tempo dixie and bossa nova alongside the upbeat, fast-paced compositions.

Our offer
Tony Lakatos and Fabio Miano for this event, they formed a quartet with two stellar local musicians to play their own compositions besides some standards. Their music stays close to the so called straight-ahead jazz with bebop and hard bop elements, a characteristic swing, and Latin feel.
The series A Genius Is Born is a tribute to the male choir works by the three greatest Hungarian masters of music, so it is no coincidence that the concerts are taking place on the composers' birthdays. A special feature of the concert programme is that StEFREM's personal selection of works by the classical composers is complemented by outstanding and interesting pieces by their "heirs", the Hungarian composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Improvisation, composition, language and cultures merge and influence each other in the world of Under the Surface.
