Péter Sárik Trio (HU)

Featuring:
Péter Sárik - piano
Tibor Fonay - double bass
Attila Gálfi - drums

No other composer had such a great influence on jazz as Bartók. The incredible strength and dynamics of his pieces literally sweeps away the listener. His music is pure excitement, mystery, infinite depth and limpidity. We have created this material so that listening to our Bartók arrangements even those who had been averse to his music would take a liking to it. Jazz and Bartók is a perfect match. The piano pieces adapted to a jazz trio sound even more characteristically, pieces written for a full orchestra and folk adaptations show a completely new face and offer a large scope for improvisation. I warmly recommend our concert for lovers of both classical and jazz music – said Peter Sarik about his Bartók project.

Our offer

Polina Pastirchak has selected songs from the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century – providing a delightful variety nurtured by the musical atmosphere of the cities and the rich colours of late Romantic and early 20th-century style.

The Modern Art Orchestra began operating twenty years ago and has since become one of Hungary's most innovative and diverse musical workshops. To mark this anniversary, the ensemble is celebrating with a three-part premiere series at the Budapest Music Center concert hall. All three evenings of the series, entitled MAO–XX, will feature new compositions and unique musical worlds, where contemporary jazz, classical tradition and poetry all play a role.
