In recent years, he has performed with such great American stars as Wayne Shorter, Terence Blanchard and Kenny Garrett, and has learned the art of jazz piano playing from no less a great pianist than Herbie Hancock. He has also enjoyed success at home as a soloist with the funky band SoLaTi, with folk arrangements and as a leader of his own band. His most recent trio album of Pat Metheny compositions (Tzumo Plays Pat) has earned him the acclaim of the author. This evening, he will be joined on drums by the well-known Áron Tálas, and on bass by the legendary Rudi Torma, to perform Tzumo's latest compositions. In the second part, the band is joined by the distinguished flutist Dávid Kanyó, active on both the classical and jazz scene.

Our offer

The band, celebrating its sixth birthday this year, has already come a long way, having performed in Italy, Poland, Spain, Slovakia, and making their debut in South Korea this year.

The blending of Bossa Nova and jazz is a story going back to over half a century and opened up a whole new world way beyond the meeting of the pioneers, Carlos Antonio Jobim, Stan Getz and others.

The series A Genius Is Born is a tribute to the male choir works by the three greatest Hungarian masters of music, so it is no coincidence that the concerts are taking place on the composers' birthdays. A special feature of the concert programme is that StEFREM's personal selection of works by the classical composers is complemented by outstanding and interesting pieces by their "heirs", the Hungarian composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
